Symptoms

What are your symptoms? When it comes to the human body or psyche, the symptoms are the focus and not the whole person or the root cause of the symptom(s). My two cents on the matter is toxic lives and toxic lifestyles are usually the root cause of the symptoms. Our bodies and minds are signaling us, "Hey, I don't like what you are eating!" or "Hey, I don't like what you are listening to!" I've heard this ideology from different natural health practitioners, "You don't have a headache because you are deficient in aspirin or ibuprofen." There are many different variables when it comes to healing but the first step is starting the process. As long as you stay on the same path you are traveling you will always arrive at the same destination. How do you change your destination? First, get a clear understanding of the path you are currently on.

Start your discovery by keeping a diary or journal on a daily basis for two weeks of EVERYTHING you put in your mouth from the time you wake up to the second you lay down and go to sleep. Even if it's a mint or piece of chewing gum, whatever you put in your mouth write it down.

EX: May 3, 2010 7:30 am Prayer & meditation (30 minutes) 8:50am 4 oz. water, 10:00am Fruit smoothie (banana, mango, pineapple, strawberry, and 8 oz. orange juice)11:00 am 20 oz water, 12 noon Mixed Green Salad, 8 oz. baked salmon steak, 2 pm Almonds (hand full), 5pm 1 medium Baked Sweet Potato & Mixed Green Salad.

Also keep a record of every little emotional upset and what you believe triggered that emotion. Cross check your emotional upsets with your food log. Some of your emotional highs and lows are directly related to what you eat. Last but certainly not least, meditate and/or pray. In the morning when you wake up, before you do anything... meditate/pray. Mid-day, pray... praying over your meal is a great start! Before you go to bed at night... meditate/pray!

Deuteronomy 30:11-20 11For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.  12It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. 15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. 17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. 19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

The choice is yours to make and the power to heal yourself is in your hands. This is Leatha Tukes signing off at Naked Raw Truth... finding better ways to live a health life!

Life in the Raw Lane

So yesterday I posted my current size on my Facebook page and boy did the comments begin to fly. The one thing that baffles my mind is this... when you make a change for the better, there is ALWAYS someone declaring you are a fanatic, that you are going too far or you need to stop what you're doing. Some of the attitudes I am encountering due to my weight loss are the same attitudes I encountered when I stopped being a "church attendee" and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior.

I did learn a few lessons from my Christian conversion experience. #1: Don't let my zealous desire to save everyone be the very thing that turns people away from what I am trying to draw them to. #2: If they don't receive what I have to share, DO NOT take it personally... shake the dust off my feet and keep it moving! #3: Do not get weary in well doing. When you know you are doing the right thing and you are walking in truth, keep the faith!

Here are my responses to the comments from my post on May 1, 2010:
I didn't set out to be any certain size nor am I "aiming" for a particular size. My goal and purpose for the lifestyle change was increased health, vitality and wellness. I refuse to continue eating or living the way the world dictates when I see chronic disease, illness and death as the manifestation of following their (SAD) statutes. My health is my responsibility and I'm making the necessary changes BEFORE some catastrophic illness wreaks havoc on my body.

I haven't updated my website but go to http://www.life-enthusiast.com/. There is plenty of educational information on the the many ailments that can afflict a person. If you choose to order any of the products please use my Affiliate ID#10634 for the referral code.
As for my rapid weight loss... I am a raw vegan, meaning I only eat fresh organic fruits, vegetables and raw nuts & seeds. No processed foods... if it's in a box, can or most bottle products I don't eat it. No refined sugar, no refined salt, no flour products, no dairy products. Extreme... ABSOLUTELY! Cancer is extreme, heart disease is extreme, diabetes is extreme, fibroids are extreme! So it takes extreme measures to deal with extreme circumstances & situations. The truth does not become a lie because you don't believe it. END FB RESPONSE

The bottom line is this... there is NO magic bullet that will instantaneously restore your health or make you lose weight. It is a process that you have to work through and make a conscious decision to make the necessary changes to promote health, vitality and wellness. It is up to you... the change is in the power of your choice.

The first sin...

The first sin that was committed still plagues us today and that is the sin of eating forbidden foods! Eve was deceived by the serpent and fell into the trap of eating food not ready for consumption. If she had only realized she was already like God maybe things would have turned out differently.

Today mankind is suffering because our food has been contaminated, poisoned, tainted, stripped of it's nutritional value to be replaced with items saturated with fat, so called *salt and so called *sugar (*good minerals taken in their natural form but what the average person consumes is a bleached product, processed with all types of synthetic chemicals, i.e. poison). And we wonder why children are plagued with "adult" diseases. Diseases are not adult, they are a result of having an imbalance in your physical body caused by what you feed it.

I have more reading to do on the subject of course. I ordered "
from Amazon.com and can't wait to read it! It was a recommended read by my friend Marnie. Once I finish I will definitely give feedback on the book.

Fight the power of the food industry... eat living food!

In the beginning...

My quest to cure myself of the ailments I am currently facing has been thus far a very intellectually stimulating journey. A journey which always takes me back to the Holy Bible. It just dawned on me after reading an article by Martin Pytela (http://www.life-enthusiast.com/index/Company/About/Founders_Story) that the reason our bodies respond so well to plants, herbs, vegetation from the earth is because we were created out of the earth. Our bodies sing when we eat living foods whose source of nutrients is Mother Earth. Yahweh chose to use the womb of Mother Earth to give birth to mankind.

Genesis 1:12 "And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Our ailments and diseases have never been because our bodies have a deficiency of pharmaceutical drugs. The more I learn, the stronger my commitment to put back in my body living food from the earth!

How do you get full?

Why do people think it's so hard to get full eating raw foods? The fact is, it doesn't take as much to fill me up now because what I am eating is full of living vital nutrients. The enzymes are still in tact so my body gets the full benefit from what I am consuming. I don't have "hunger pains" like I did before I started eating raw foods. When I eat now (and I'm not hungry) I automatically run through what is going on with me emotionally. Food is definitely something I use to comfort myself. The good thing about the food I'm eating now is that it will not have a detrimental affect on my body like ice-cream, cookies or my former all time favorite cheese, crackers and duck salami or some other meat. And I usually can't eat a lot of what I'm trying to because my body doesn't want it. Now, I reach for a banana or a mango or a cucumber or some celery... you get the picture.

Another thing I'm ALWAYS asked about is "What about your protein?" What about it... where do you think animals get their protein from... the plants (grass) they eat. Why not go to the source to get your protein instead of eating the flesh of animal. Our bodies are a complex creation made to create EVERYTHING we need in order for it to function properly. But you have to put living food in your body for this to happen. If you keep eating dead things your body is going to manifest death in the form of illness and disease. I believe that diseases are NOT hereditary. The reason you keep seeing the same diseases from one generation to the next is because of the lifestyle that is passed from one generation to the next. You are eating the same diet, probably dealing with some of the same emotional issues and operating in the same environment as your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. If you do the same thing those before you did, you will get the same results.

So today I had a fruit smoothie with a tablespoon of Ultra Greens powder. I used some frozen fruit that I bought fresh then cut up and put in the freezer. Pineapples, strawberries, a few blueberries, one banana and some fresh squeezed orange that I juiced myself. I ate a raw granola bar later but my body wasn't digging that today. I drank my filtered water from my glass bottle... still got one more bottle to drink. Today I made another discovery with a salad using raw mustard greens (the curly kind that looks like kale). How many of you know that mustard greens are little spicy? Yes, they have a little bite to them. You know that hot flash you get when you eat wasabi? That's the spicy I'm talking about. If I had cooked them, I would've never made that discovery. There is one draw back for me personally eating a raw diet... my freakin' libido is through the roof! I need to join a fitness club and start exercise to burn up some of this energy. Until next time, stay healthy and wealthy!

Pat Greers Raw Vegan Kitchen

I was so excited last night when I found a raw foods restaurant using Yelp in Houston! So needless to say, my mission today along with running a few errands was to get to Pat Greer's before she closed at 3:00 pm because the sister doesn't do the weekend thing... she is CLOSED! The store is located in 4th ward so I had a general idea where her place was. So it's a little after 2:00 and I head for the hills. I also had a conference call at 2:00... which was no biggie, just dial in. So I feel my way through downtown to 4th ward, find Taft Street (perfect), then start looking for W. Clay. There's West Gray but I don't see W. Clay and I can't call because I'm on a conference call! OK, the conference call ends a few minutes after 3:00 pm and even though her closing time is 3:00 pm I am determined to find the shop. I call, they answer and she says, "Oh, come on by... we're going to be here for a while." Thank you Jesus!

It's a house that been converted into a store... nothing fancy but the food! Yummie! They have samples of almost everything they make so of course I tried a few samples after a "little" coaxing and decided on the coconut pecan cookies. If you like coconuts and pecans you will LOVE this cookie. Pure goodness... my only regret is that I bought just ONE bag. For my entree, I decided to try their lasagna. Another grand slam hit with me. The "meat" was delicious and the cheeze has a really nice creaminess to it. I also bought some chocolate pie which I will have that tomorrow! Once I replenish my funds, I will be going back!

Check our her website and definitely pay her a visit. It's worth every penny!

Raw Food Restaurants

I struck pay dirt in Houston with the ONLY stand alone Raw Foods store that also serves raw food meals. "Pat Greer's Vegan Kitchen is the closest source of locally produced eco-logically friendly vegetables/fruits/nuts in the inner loop community within which is included Houston: (Houston Heights, Montrose, Upper Kirby, River Oaks, Museum District, Third Ward Houston, East End, and so on."

In this blurb I took from the website it says inner loop but for me it also includes the outer loop as well. I plan on paying the store a visit tomorrow to check our their fare in person!

I did come across a Raw Food Chef, Renee Herndon, giving a demonstration at Whole Foods Market in Sugarland but she does not have a restaurant. She offers raw food meal service and demonstrations. You can check her out at http://www.rawveggies4ever.com.
